Online Learning Expectations

In an online learning environment, students are expected to behave as they would in a classroom setting. Soulsbyville School expects students to be safe, responsible, and respectful at all times.

  • Use appropriate school tools for learning
  • Only log into Virtual Meetings when your teacher is present
  • Keep your log ins and passwords safe and secure
  • Never share personal information with anyone online!
  • Create a space and dedicated time for learning
  • Break up the day to be your productive best
  • Seek help when needed (teachers, guidance, principals)
  • Sign into the classrooms daily
    • Use appropriate language both in speaking and writing
    • Collaborate with peers using respectful language and behaviors
    • Support each other in this new way of learning
    • Be patient with yourselves and your teachers

    Examples of misbehaviors include but are not limited to:

    • Being in a virtual meeting before or after your teacher
    • Making inappropriate comments in the classroom or meeting chat box
    • Missing assignments
    • Ignoring teacher expectations for participating in a meeting (mute/video expectations, speaking out of turn, etc)
    • Disrupting the learning of others

    Possible actions taken for misbehavior during distance learning include but are not limited to:

    • Redirect/reteach behavior
    • One on one conference about behavior
    • Parent contact
    • Attempt to “re-engage”
    • Loss of privilege including but not limited to:
      • Removal from individual virtual meeting
      • Temporary removal from other live interactions
      • Appropriate alternatives to group work
    • Referral to administration
