Dear First Grade Families,

We just want to express our sincere appreciation for your continued support in this joint effort in extending learning opportunities to meet the first grade standards. We are including our third work packet, which is meant to cover the next two weeks. We are sending work that should take no longer than 1.5-2 hours a day, for this age group. If your child is taking much longer than this, is really struggling, or putting up a fight with the work, please reach out to your child's teacher so we can help them (and you) through this. We are a team and we are here to help! If you are looking for more to do, we have multiple options that we can give you, just let us know. One helpful location for additional lessons is through the County School's website,https://portal.tcsos.us/elo/elo-lessons/

We suggest that your child do one math worksheet front and back and math fact worksheet each day (meaning addition and subtraction facts), read for 20 minutes daily (AR story or a story from our packet), and one phonics page from the Journeys Readers Notebook. It would be great if your child could complete 2 writing pages per week. We have included, again, the First Grade Sight Word list, this list includes words your child should be able to read and spell by the end of first grade. We also included an Additional Sight Word Dictionary with extra words that your child can look up how to spell, when writing. Last, we included a writing checklist to help check for the parts to a sentence. Please have your child check their own writing by going through thechecklist.

As always, let us know if we can help in any way. Thank you again!

Sincerely,

Miss Anderson

1st Grade Worksheets May 4th to May 15th

April 14th-May 1st

April 13, 2020

Dear 1st grade families,

We have put together our next packet, that includes work for the next three weeks. We definitely miss your little one and would like you to tell them hi from their teacher. If you have any questions about this packet, please make sure to ask your child’s teacher. We have included a list of sight words, titled Sight Words for First Grade. These are all sight words your child should be able to read AND write by the end of the school year. This is an additional thing for them to work on from home. We also included a list of additional activities from Tk-2nd grade, if you were looking for more to do. Very soon we will be sending home their phonics books, which include all the sound combinations, sight words, reading and writing work needed for the rest of the school year. Your child’s teacher will be contacting you soon to let you know how and when you can pick those up.

We know we have given you a huge job to do these packets with your child and we are beyond appreciative of the hard work you are doing. We are here to help, so if you need anything, reach out to us to let us know.

Lastly, PLEASE make contact with your child’s teacher, if you have not done so already. We are eager to hear from you and want to know how you and your child are doing. Also, be sure to be checking your email as all three of us are sending updates, websites, and other important information, often. If you have not received any emails, contact your child’s teacher to be sure we have your correct email address.

Thank you, we miss you, and together we will make it through this.

Sincerely,

Miss Anderson

Dear Parents,

We hope this finds you doing well. We all miss our kids and look forward to seeing them back at school on April 14th. In the meantime, we are hoping you can help us keep their skills they have learned so far fresh in their minds. During this time we will be having you work on skills they have already learned through games, worksheets and reading stories. We will pick up right where we left off when we return in April. There are also many websites available for your child to work on these skills also. They are websites they use in class so they should be able to work on them without much additional help. We will all be checking email often so should you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Please tell them we said hello and we look forward to seeing them in a few weeks. The Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools website also has several other resources available to help including how to talk to your child about our current situation. Our school counselor, Cynthia Holman, is also available if you have questions. 532-1419x3322 or cholman@soulsbyvilleschool.com
