Hey Soulsbyville Family! We have Open House coming up next week, Tuesday May 14th 5pm - 6:30pm. I wanted to let you know I will have the library open so that families have an opportunity to come in and take care of their students library business. Good evening everyone! Your school librarian here to let everyone know the book fair is next week! Book fair begins Monday December 10th and will run through Friday December 14th. It will be in the boardroom/RM 9, 10am - 4pm. Teachers will plan to bring students down to preview/shop the book fair. Families are welcome to come shop with their students as well. The library held a pumpkin character contest. K-5th grade was invited to participate in this contest. Each individual class collectively decorated a pumpkin like one of their favorite book characters. The week of Halloween we had staff vote on their favorite pumpkin. This morning I counted the votes and Mr. Baer’s class won! They will receive ice cream cups for their prize. Check out the pictures to see who’s class made your favorite book character.
On the behalf of Soulsbyville Elementary, I would like to thank Chris and Jacqueline Powers , for their wonderful book donations to our school library. The Powers our making their donation on behalf of their sister, Tammy Gillette, who is currently battling stage 4 brain cancer. Tammy is an avid reader. Thank you Powers family!
A staff member asked me the other day if our school library takes book donations. Absolutely! We accept gently used children’s , teen and YA ( young adult) books. Please sign into the main office before coming up to the library to drop off. We would love and appreciate your donations. It keeps a great selection of literature and media circulating through our library for our students to expand their reading.
RED RIBBON/CHARACTER COUNTS WEEK will be observed the week of October 29th. Students in TK- 1st grade are asked to show their school spirit and good character by wearing the color of that day’s trait. This week the library held a contest to guess how many seeds a small pumpkin held. The winner gets a free book to take home! I brought home the pumpkin today and my kids and I gutted it and counted the seeds. The pumpkin held 488 seeds! The winner is a 5th grader in Miss. Meeks class! Congratulations!

Please join us for our Back to School event this Thursday 8/16, between the hours of 5:00-6:30pm. Class lists will be posted outside the main office and classrooms will be open for visits. PTO will be selling ice cream sundaes and water for a dollar each. The first five students to come by will get their ice cream for free. PTO will also have a raffle for backpacks filled with school supplies.

She is running to help raise money towards the replacement of Soulsbyville Schools lower playground structure. Congratulations to 4th grade students Nicolas Williams and Peyton Monsen. Nicolas won a 1st place blue ribbon and Peyton won a 2nd place red ribbon in the Tuolumne County Arts Alliance exhibit. These projects along with various other student's are on display at the Tuolumne County Library until May 13th.

Soulsbyville School: ATTENTION: Due to the recent weather cancellation days, our last day of school will be Friday, June 8th. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 on both Thursday, June 7th and Friday, June 8th. Please update your calendar accordingly.
Attention 4th grade parents: The Monterey Fieldtrip scheduled for this Friday, March 2nd will not be canceled for inclement weather. The aquarium does not have any other dates available for postponement. We understand if you need to cancel as a chaperone, but please let your teacher know ASAP. The trip is scheduled to meet in the cafeteria at 6:30AM and depart the campus at 6:45. Please allow extra time for road conditions when bringing your child to the campus. This fieldtrip will proceed even if the decision is made to cancel school for the remainder of students. Students are scheduled to return to campus at 8:30PM.
