Year 1 Program Improvement (PI) School

Oct. 25, 2011

Dear Parents,

Our school receives Title I funds from the federal government. We use these funds to provide extra services and programs such as the After School Kids (ASK) Program, Response to Intervention (RTI) and materials to enhance learning opportunities. You may be aware that the federal law, No Child Left Behind (NCLB), requires all Title I schools to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). Based on the State accountability system, schools that do not make Adequate Yearly Progress for two consecutive years are identified as Program Improvement schools.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that our school has been identified as a Year 1 Program Improvement (PI) school, as indicated from the 2009-10 and 2010-11 test results, for our Socio-Economically Disadvantaged sub group in the areas of Math and English Language Arts.

It is our hope that your child will continue to thrive at Soulsbyville School and benefit from the additional funding and program efforts to improve our school and increase achievement. We are committed to helping all of our students be successful and to meeting our AYP targets in the coming years.

I want to assure you that we are focused on providing the best possible education for all students at Soulsbyville School. We will continue to offer art, music, PE, homework clubs, sports, field trips, After School Kids, and other programs you have come to love and expect at Soulsbyville School. Our staff is participating in weekly cooperative meetings to ensure that they are working together to provide the best possible learning environment for each individual student in their classrooms. We remain dedicated to high quality instruction and achievement.

We will keep you updated and informed about opportunities to discuss plans for our school. If you have questions, need additional information on how you can get involved in our school improvement efforts, or would like to discuss the school’s instructional program and PI status, please feel free to contact us, or visit the school. Remember “No one of us is as smart as all of us”.

Working Together,
