PIcture Day for All Soulsbyville Students will be Wednesday August 25th.
Packets will be sent home with students on Friday, August 20th.
LifeTouch will be the organization taking the photos and they have a website, www.mylifetouch.com , where you can choose which package of pictures you would like to purchase for your student. Chargecards such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover or AmericanExpress can be used to pay for the pictures. You will be able to print a receipt online that your child can bring to school on picture day to pay for their photos.
We have expanded our Accelerated Reader program this year to allow students access to many more book quizzes. If you would like to check to see if books from the County Library or from your bookshelf at home are "Accelerated Reader" books, click on the link and follow their directions.

MESSAGE FROM THE DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT
MR. JEFF WINFIELD
Soulsbyville is an
extraordinary place to learn and grow. It is a place of mutual respect, high
academic achievement and healthy relationships. Each of us contributes to the
learning environment in a consistently positive way. We care about each other,
providing support and nurturing, working together to build a community of
life-long learners. At Soulsbyville, “No one of us is as smart as all of us.”
Go Falcons!
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
MR. BART TAYLOR
Soulsbyville is an exciting place! We have a very
supportive community behind us. The students tend to rise to the academic rigor
to which we continually push.
The entire staff works hard to establish a polite and
productive climate in which learning is maximized and students feel safe. And
we have a very informed and involved School Board and Superintendent.
"Creating a community of life-long learners," is truly happening here
at Soulsbyville as we all work together.
A LITTLE HISTORY...
Soulsbyville is named after Ben Soulsby, who resided in the area during the California Gold Rush.
Mr. Soulsby ran a lumber mill near the intersection of Community Drive
and Soulsbyville Road. His contribution to society is forever embossed
in the following elementary school song:
"Drop on by, we're up the
hill.
We're the kids from Soulsbyville.
See the town with the old saw
mill, We're the kids from Soulsbyville. Living here is mighty fine,
Thanks to Ben Soulsby's old gold mine, come see us, if you will.
WE'RE
THE KIDS FROM SOULSBYVILLE!".
The first SoulsbyvilleSchool
was a private one, and begun in 1865.
The public school was
established in 1869. Since that time, SoulsbyvilleSchool
has been located at various sites in our area. The last "Little Red
Schoolhouse" was located just down the road from our present location and
now houses our CommunityDay School. The present
school site was begun in 1962 with the new Falcon Gym and classrooms being
built in 2007.

We are proud to announce that our math team coached by Mrs. Husher obtained 3rd place in the State Chapter Math-Counts Competition - that took place yesterday 02/20/10 at the University of the Pacific in Stockton.
We started this program only at the beginning of January this year, so considering such a short length of time for coaching, our team did very well. We will post pictures as soon as we will receive them and all the students involved in this competition.
